Jewelry Trends Fall/Winter 2016-2017

Fashion shows in New York, London, and Milan set the tone for fashion trends in 2016 for fall and winter. Jewelry saw no exception. With profile fashion couturiers such as Dolce & Gabana, Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Vogue, Salvatore Ferragamo and Christian Dior taking fashionable jewelry from the 90s and turning it into a sensational, easy to follow modern day revolution.

Pearls Galore

With pearls having being viewed as the jewelry choice for the mature woman, fashion designers this fall and winter have introduced the pearl as versatile, suitable for both youthful and mature women.

The jewelry trend for fall/winter 2016-2017 saw the appearance of the pearl in funky chains, rings, brooches, chockers and multilayers. Along with elegant sophistication, the runway flaunted pearls alongside denim and other everyday apparel. 

Reappearance of the choker

Fashion designers, Alexander Wang and Dolce & Gabanna used choker necklaces to accentuate the open necklines on their models. Thanks to fashion designer broadening the horizons for choker necklaces, they can be worn in a variety of ways as well as paired up with your other favorite necklaces. 

Choose from a wide variety including fragile, delicate chokers or chunky metallic chokers.

Continuing the multilayer

For some time now, multilayers have become part of everyday fashion apparel. Now the multilayers extend into jewelry trends this fall. Pair your favorite gemstones, pendants, chokers and other necklaces together for something different and fashionable.

Pendants, charms and amulets

The pendant lives on in the recent jewelry trends this fall/winter 2016-2017. From amulets and religious pendants to small, gentle pendants to bold and eye-catching pendants, the runway flaunted pendants galore. The models paired the pendant necklaces alongside their chokers or to accentuate the long necklines of their attire. Either way, they captured the attention of all present.

The bold raw-stones, kaleidoscopes and gemstones

One of the biggest jewelry trends for 2016 has been that of the raw-stones and gemstones. This fall/winter jewelry trend continues the love for gemstones and raw stones as a means to add bold colors to outfits. Fashion designers incorporated gemstones and raw-stones in pendants, bracelets, rings, earrings, and bold necklaces. 

Earrings and bracelets

The jewelry trends for fall/winter 2016-2017 saw the appearance of the twin bracelets as well as several different styles for earrings.The runways set the trend for asymmetrical earrings, oversize earrings, single earrings, long drop earrings. The sky is limit when it comes to wearing your earrings. Go big or go small; where one or two; or where two different sizes. 

Wearing bracelets over your sleeves or gloves has sit this fall for an inspiring jewelry trend thanks to Prada and Marison Margelia. The bracelet trend didn’t end there. Fashion designers brought in bracelets with a chic flair continuing with charms, beads, gemstones and more.

The twin bracelet jewelry trend for fall/winter 2016-2017 must have taken inspiration from prisoners since this interesting take on bracelets saw models wearing two identical bracelets on the same arm linked with a chain. The sizes of the bracelets on each model varied from large and chunky to delicate and thin.

Tassels and more tassels

For those with a love for all things tassels, the jewelry trend this fall/winter continues the bohemian flair. Tassels were seen fluttering as they dangled from earrings, necklaces and dresses. The stage has been set for the tassel, all that remains is for jewelry designers and fashion lovers to enjoy the whimsical nature of the tassel.
